HP Z3100 and
Z3200 (Z Series) printer repairs can be made by users who are
willing to do their own repairs. Z Series printers are prone to a
failing carriage belt and a power supply fan failure. In Lindquists
repair notes, he has documented his experiences replacing the
carriage belt and the power supply fan, as well as discussing
cleaning and maintenance procedures, such as lubricating the
carriage rail with genuine HP oil and cleaning the interior of the
printers on a regular schedule. There are also quotes from other
Z3100 and Z3200 users who have shared their knowledge on
Luminous-Landscape Forum and Large Format Photography Forum.
Having an HP DesignJet warranty or Care Pack is the best insurance
for the Z3100 and Z3200 printers, however, once the warranty
expires, users are on their own and must use local repair services
or fix the belt and fan issue themselves. Occasionally, print head
issues may crop up, and there are tips and tricks on how to clean
and fix print heads manually. Also, the embedded spectrophotometer
occasionally fails and needs either cleaning or replacing. Changing
the formatter board may clear up error messages the Z3100 and Z3200
printers generate. Mark Lindquist's notes cover a wide array of
repair issues associated with HP Z3100 and Z3200 printers.
Z3200 Notes cover Z3200 spare parts, Z3200 carriage bushing, Z3200
software, Z3200 paper presets, cleaning Z3200 printheads, how to
keep your Z3200 in top shape, and acknowledgments to individuals
who have helped the Z3100 and Z3200 community over the years.
